Job Description

Activate Cycle Academy are the UK’s foremost training organisation for Cytech commercial, and Apprenticeship based Cycle Mechanic Training and due to continued high demand, we are looking to recruit someone as a Workshop Trainer/Apprenticeship Training Officer.

This post offers and excellent opportunity for someone to facilitate and manage the setup of a brand-new Cycle Mechanic workshop in the NW of England (potentially in Cumbria),

You will be responsible to delivering Cytech Technincal 1 and 2 training as well as Home Mechanic’s and other courses depending on the demand. 

In addition, you will manage a caseload of between 20 and 35 Apprentices within your area (along the M6 corridor), visiting them face to face every 12 weeks and via remote means every 6 weeks.

You will be responsible for all aspects of their training and to ensure that they meet all progress targets on their program, including 121 Functional Skills (Maths and English) training and provision.

This position is a full time, fixed 12-month rolling contract and will be reviewed at the end of each 12-month period – based on the ongoing demand for Training.

A flexible working pattern is expected - a combination of travelling and working from home will be required. This may also include occasional evenings and weekend work to meet the business needs.

Skills/Experience Required

What do you need to be successful in this role?

You will have relevant industry experience and hold Cytech Technical 3 or equivalent, TAQA / PTLLS qualifications (or prepared to work towards one).

You will need to be a self-motivated and flexible person of some experience within the Cycle Industry and to be both passionate and knowledgeable about all types of bikes. You will have a good ‘coaching style’ of training and a deep understanding of how the Cycle Industry functions and the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that are needed to be successful within the Industry. You will also have good attention to detail and the ability to manage your workload, to keep robust records of your training courses, your learner visits and learner progress, and to ensure that all required evidence is gathered and processed from your learners in a timely manner.

The Cycles Team has an overall completion rate of 90% and a timely completions rate of 85%, we expect you to take pride in your abilities and to aim to deliver outstanding service to our Learners.

Annual salary between £26-29k depending on qualifications and experience + expenses (travel, accommodation and subsistence when away from home) A computer and mobile phone and a uniform will be provided.
