Job Description

The opportunity:

Stirling Cycles is 15 years old in 2022. We're rebranding and giving the business a makeover, and we need you to help complete the revolution.

We are moving into a new era with bike sales central to our focus, supported by our established and highly regarded workshop. We've brought leading brands on board such as Orbea, Merida and Cube and we've ordered ambitiously for the year ahead.

We've invested in ecommerce and are working to make this a key part of our development.  Put simply, Stirling Cycles is a company with an exciting future, a company where your voice will be heard and where you can really make a difference.

We are a small team who work together closely and collaboratively, and we are seeking an individual to work in the retail area of the business. 

This is a varied role requiring a flexible and enthusiastic approach. A role which will challenge you and help you develop. You’ll be involved in all of aspects of our retail offering, e.g. bike and accessory sales, customer service, maintaining our retail standards and stock management. Previous experience in bike shop retail and an aptitude and desire for learning and explaining product features is essential.

Our working week is Tuesday to Saturday at present so will require working most Saturdays.

Overview of duties:

Working with the support of the shop manager/owner you will have a wide range of responsibilities including but not limited to:

- Handling bike sale enquiries (which we are aiming to provide predominantly via personal  
  appointments)
- Maintaining high presentational standards in the retail area
- Handling general customer enquiries
- Placing stock orders
- Identifying promotional and sales opportunities and implementing
- Adding stock deliveries to our EPOS system
- Maintaining accurate stock records
- Managing workshop bookings/enquiries

Skills/Experience Required

Your Attributes:

You'll be great at developing relationships with our customers, providing advice and after sales support.  You can tailor your approach to suit those new to cycling through to experienced cyclists, always creating a welcoming environment.

Your colleagues would describe you as professional, approachable, hard working, friendly, energetic, and ready to work on your initiative.  Additionally, you are articulate and have great communication skills both verbally and in writing. 

You're interested in keeping up to date with developments in the bike trade and you take the time to ensure you have researched the products you sell so you can provide a fantastic customer experience.  You want to be recognised as an expert in your field.

Experience/Qualifications/Skills

Essential:

Previous experience in a cycle retail environment
Excellent communicator both verbally and in written correspondence
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Good numeracy skills

Desirable:

Previous experience of e-bike retail and technology (Bosch, Shimano, Mahle e-bike motion)
Cytech 1, 2 or 3 or equivalent
