Job Description

We're a small but skilled bike workshop on a busy street in Nunhead, SE15. Our main trade is servicing and repairs, and the workshop is only a few steps from the front door, so we need someone friendly, approachable and knowledgeable with great customer service skills.

Our customers vary from occasional leisure cyclists to daily commuters to weekend warriors and Transcontinental riders so we work on everything from Pashleys to Parlees. We have a strong reputation for great customer service and mechanical expertise.

All our staff are mechanics who also serve customers so everyone is responsible for greeting customers, assessing bikes, booking them in, servicing bikes, answering the phone, phoning customers, selling parts and accessories, handling money and keeping the workshop running.

The job will be full time (40 hours a week), with some Saturdays, possibly some early starts or late finishes; we're open 7am-7pm weekdays and 9-5 on Saturdays. We're a London Living Wage employer... and the workshop has plenty of natural light!

Skills/Experience Required

We're looking for someone with more than a year's experience in a bike workshop, preferably with at least Cytech 1 or equivalent.

Good customer service skills are essential and the ideal candidate will have several years' experience in a busy shop, a good telephone manner and good business sense as well as the computer literacy and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and kindly with colleagues and widely diverse customers.

We're looking for someone with strong workshop experience but we are all constantly learning and technology progresses, so attitude is more important than aptitude - we can provide training if you're the right person.
