SEO tasks you can't ignore

Posted on in Business News, Cycles News

SEOSearch ranking will either make or break your business.

According to statista, 46.8% of the global population accessed the Internet in 2017 and that figure is expected to reach 53.7% by 2021.

Did you know that 75% of users don't go past the first page of the search results?

It is more crucial now than ever for businesses to focus on SEO.

SEMrush provides 10 overlooked SEO tasks that will help to skyrocket your business to the top.

Create rich cards

Rich cards are a form of structured data; giving users visually appealing information that is easy to understand providing a flawless mobile search experience.

Rich cards are there to stand out against old text results and other forms of structured data. They are eye-catching and can boost your CTR.

The key is to understand what type of content your customers are searching for that is regularly getting displayed as rich cards and create this type of content and optimize them as rich cards.

Disavow negative backlinks

Backlinks don't always mean high rankings.

There are three ways you can get negative backlinks:

  • Organically: as your authority grows you can expect less credible websites to start linking to you
  • Blackhat SEO: actively engaging in practices that manipulate Google's algorithms to rank higher, such as buying links
  • Sabotage: some individuals may get their competitors to lose their search ranking by linking back to their sites from a large number of spam sites

Find out how to check what sites are linking to yours here.

Create skyscraper content

This involves finding high performing content in your niche and creating something better.

Find your competition on Google, find out what has worked for them and do it better.

Optimize your landing pages

Google uses bounce rates to gauge the quality of a post, if a user clicks on your website and discovers it's not relevant to them going back quickly Google will take notice and eventually drop your ranking for that search term.

The key here is to make sure your content is relevant to the search term.

Use infographics

Infographics are an effective SEO task and strategy.

Create more videos

It is predicted that online video will make up 80% of all online traffic by 2021.

Why not take the popular content on your website and repurpose it as videos?

Create your own keyword or phrase

Creating a unique system, product or brand means that you are the only one that is going to get traction for it.

Take advantage of high-performing posts

If you have pages with high authority showing up on the first page of the search results you can take advantage of this and link to lower ranking posts leading to more clicks and higher rankings.

Use entity salience

Entity salience is a relatively new concept there to improve the accuracy of search results by leveraging the known relationships between entities.

It takes advantage of repeating themes for those keywords rather than repeating keywords over and over again.

Optimize for voice search

Voice search tends to be very specific making long-tail keywords more valuable and giving less established websites the opportunity to rank.

By optimizing for quick mobile search and voice search, monitoring linking, focussing on relevancy, creating skyscraper, video, keywords and infographic content are strategies that are often overlooked, but strategies that will build a strong SEO foundation.
