Creating an SEO Strategy for 2019

Posted on in Business News, Cycles News

SEOSearch engine optimization (SEO) is a key factor within marketing, but it is also not what it used to be.

Today, SEO strategies shouldn't focus on keywords.

This may sound foreign as keywords have always been a major feature in SEO strategies but just creating content for the keywords your customers are searching for is arduous and incorrect.

"SEO is a highly specialized content strategist and helps a business discover opportunities to answer questions people have about the industry via search engines" - Hubspot.

There are three types of SEO strategies:

  • On-page SEO
  • Off-page SEO
  • Technical SEO

On-page SEO: focuses on optimising the content that is on the page to help boost the website's ranking for specific keywords.

Off-page SEO: focuses on links from the internet that are directing to the website. The number of backlink and publishers with your link builds trust in the eyes of the search engine and causes your website to rank higher.

Technical SEO: focuses on examining the backend of a website to see how the webpage is set up. This is all about a website's architecture.

SEO is not a one fits all process, as a business you need to examine your industry, find out what's important to your audience and develop a strategy that puts the right content in front of that audience.

In order to figure out your business' SEO process, you can use Hubspot's 9-step process to ensure all your SEO bases are covered for 2019.

  1. Make a list of topics
  2. Make a list of long-tail keywords based on these topics
  3. Build pages for each topic
  4. Set up a blog
  5. Blog each week to develop page authority
  6. Create a link-building plan
  7. Compress all media before putting it on your website
  8. Stay current on SEO news & practices
  9. Measure and track your content's success
