Dr. Omar A. Kowlessar leads OAK Psychological Services. He is a HCPC registered Chartered Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 18 years experience specialising in adult mental health (ages 16+). Dr. Kowlessar offers diagnostic assessments and a range of evidence-based psychological therapies to members of the public as well as clinical supervision and mentoring to psychologist and non-psychologist health professionals.
He is qualified in multiple psychological therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT, BABCP accredited); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT); Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR); Mentalization-based Treatment (MBT); Brief Solution-focused Therapy (BSFT) and Structured Clinical Management (SCM). Dr. Kowlessar is also trained to assess and diagnose autism (ADOS-2).
Dr. Kowlessar is an expert in treating a wide spectrum of mental health conditions, from anxiety, depression and trauma to emotionally unstable personality disorder, psychosis and bi-polar affective disorder. He also has expertise in working with people who have co-morbid long-term physical health conditions, like chronic pain, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Dr. Kowlessar is based in Warrington, Cheshire and offers face-to-face as well as remote appointments, he is also an approved provider with all the major private medical insurers.
