Established in 2013 by Laura Jayne Burlison, The Paddock is an organic fruit and veg box scheme and delivery service focusing on environmentally friendly, local produce with ethics at the heart of everything we do. The Paddock Farm Shop is a zero waste shop stocking a range of organic and local products, with minimal plastic packaging, a refill system for eco friendly household products and a plastic free pantry. The Paddock has been inspired by our family smallholding, named The Paddock, based on the beautiful Northumberland border.
The Paddock Farm Shop, 7-9 Ramsay Street, High Spen, NE39 2EL focuses on organic, local produce with a zero waste ethos aiming to reduce single use plastics, reuse whatever we can and finally recycle whatever we can't to provide eco friendly options for our customers with minimal environmental impact. Pop in and refill from our Refill Station, a selection of eco friendly household cleaning products or top up on those cupboard store essentials such as rice and pasta from our Plastic Free Pantry of Organic Dried Goods.
The Paddock Farm Shop opened on 6th April 2016, stocking a fantastic range of local produce and organic wholefoods and has since become somewhat of a community hub within our village. The Paddock Farm Shop runs regular community focused events with a flexible approach to opening hours so customers can pop in when suits. We offer regular Wednesday, Thursday and Friday opening, pop up Saturday's and some late night Friday to coincide with our popular waste food take-away nights.
The Paddock Farm Shop is located in the village in which I grew up, in the very same building my granda used for his business Frances Ellen Roache and The Traditional Quilt Makers. Purchased in 1983, after being used to produce Venture Buses, my granda ran a successful soft furnishings business from the building, creating bespoke curtains and bedspreads for many years until the building was split up into units and rented out, offering customers a real sense of history and a unique shopping experience. We occupy one of the units, and next door we have a lovely vintage tea rooms, VIP teas, where you can grab a home made cake and a lovely cuppa when you visit. Steeped in history, the building dates back over 100 years and was originally used to build Venture buses offering customers a real sense of history and a unique shopping experience! We now run an organic Farm Shop and Veg Box Delivery service from this very same building, focusing on healthy, wholefoods with minimal packaging and an eco friendly ethos alongside all of your daily, zero waste essentials.
As a small, family run business, excellent customer service is at the heart of everything we do. Our customer always comes first, we pride ourselves on making everyone who walks through our door feel really special, and we hope you will find our team friendly, knowledgeable and approachable.
