We opened our own shop in April 2018. After running online and with space in another shop locally for 2 years. We are a mum, dad and daughter team with lots of family support. We are very passionate about our little business from the quality of the items to our competitive pricing and value on customer service and satisfaction. We deliver free to local towns and try to go above and beyond for our customers to provide what they want with that personal touch.

What makes you the UK's Best Small Shop

We offer a range of services for our customers including free local delivery, same day postage and we have opened late, early and on Sundays to help. We offer a loyalty card for money off. We have a huge range of products in line with our ethics of them all being paraben, SLS and parrafin free to make them as friendly to use as possible, sourcing from other small and local businesses where possible.

We stock natural and plastic free items to help people reduce use and have tried to encourage suppliers to switch to eco friendly packing, which some have. We use paper bags.

Customers can shop in store, via Facebook or online for postage, collection or delivery. We have just had an epos system installed which will help us keep track of stock better and save time for customers waiting for updates.

We have won some local awards based on reviews from customers

What innovations did you initiate to combat the impact of COVID-19

We closed immediately but assured customers could contact us via email, phone or text. We left notes on the door with contact details and on our Facebook page which reaches a lot of our customers.

We would meet customers in town, at their home or ours with stock, ensuring we distanced and sanitised before and after.

We also stocked sanitiser, masks and more at less than the RRP.

We enrolled in an eBay shop to maintain sales and made a product catalogue for use in Facebook. With every order we put in a sheet of how to use the products with bear results which also lists all other products so encourages future orders with other items too.

Our eBay shop has taken off well and helped us to continue to work and pay the ongoing bills still due. This has continued to grow and help us grow.

We ran competitions on Facebook to reach more customers too.

Tell us how you engage with the local community

We stock products from other small businesses, ideally local ones. We have artwork from local artists on a commission basis per sale so they don't pay for shop space as this can be difficult for growing businesses.

We look to stock local businesses whose ideals match ours and have continued to do this and are in contact with 2 local companies with regards to stocking their candles too. We have soaps from a local business and share local business pages to try and help them grow.

We have a tight knit community in Little Dockray and the small business shops help look after each other, taking in deliveries and promoting each other.

At present we can't attend any local events due to COVID19 but we have done in the past
