Here at mooch we go that extra mile to provide everyone who passes or enters our stores an experience from the cleanliness of our stores and attractive windows outside to the merchandising and warm feel of our stores as you enter.Every moocher is welcomed into our stores then given the time to mooch at thier leisure with no pressure but expert advice and support on finding that perfect gift is avaliable when required.
We are active on social media and use this to engage with existing and find new customers, be it in-store or online, we regularly engage with competitions, in 2016 we set up an additional facebook page called Shop, Eat, Sleep Bewdley where we promote other local businesses with this we have built a real local business community around our Bewdley store.
We work closely with local charities and organisations supporting with raffles and fundraisers.
What innovations did you initiate to combat the impact of COVID-19
When we closed our doors in March we had just taken delivery of our Easter & Spring stock, we had a huge liability of product that we needed to sell to pay our suppliers, our website was neglected with only 20% of our shops stock on it we quickly worked hard to turn it around and offered the local community a much needed valuable service:FREE local deliveries on all orders - we also offered free gift wrapping
We worked for 3 days flat to set up a NEW "moonpig' style service on greetings cards on our site
We sourced new products to sell such as Jigsaws & Craft kits
We launched Mystery Bags to clear excess sale stocks - these were bags full of products to a particular theme saving at least 50% on retail - orders went into meltdown from Easter, For Her, Kids, Home we had Mystery Bags to suit most occasions!
Social media was key throughout we also launched our opening safety video on Facebook.
Tell us how you engage with the local community
We work hard daily promoting other Bewdley Based Businesses on our Shop, Eat, Sleep Bewdley Facebook page, prior to its launch in 2016 there was no networking within Bewdley, now we all regularly communicate via the Whatsapp group we also set up. During the pandemic Shop, Eat, Sleep run by myself played a vital part promoting those businesses that were still operating, we grew the page follows by 1000+ to now over 2400.During lockdown we also ran a 'Local heroes' award highlighting businesses going that extra mile during lockdown with products and services to the local community, this was very well received and had a huge reach.
The page along with our own business page drives footfall into the towns we trade.
