Skills/Experience Required

About the Role

As our Mechanic/Shop Manager, you'll be the face of our workshop, responsible for the day-to-day operations and ensuring our customers get the best service possible to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality bike repairs and servicing on a wide range of bicycles, including standard and e-bikes, with a focus on efficiency.

  • Manage the workshop schedule and workflow to ensure the shop is open during optimal hours.

  • Maintain and service our fleet of e-bikes for hire.

  • Run the point-of-sale system and manage inventory.

  • Collect and record data to measure our social and community impact.

  • Maintain a welcoming and tidy workshop environment.

  • Be involved in the training and development of our current apprentice, helping to mentor the next generation of mechanics.

  • Work with our Directors and volunteers to grow the workshop. While you’ll be responsible for day-to-day management of the shop, our supporting crew will help with tasks like bookkeeping & accounting, volunteers, events and many other tasks - allowing you to focus on the fun stuff.

What We're Looking For

  • Cytech Level 2 (or equivalent certification) or relatable experience in a professional bike shop.

  • Experience in e-bike maintenance, with knowledge of common systems such as Bosch, Shimano, and others.

  • Familiarity with bike shop management software.

  • A friendly, customer-focused attitude with a desire to help people from all backgrounds.

  • A proactive and organised approach to work.

  • A passion for cycling and community.

What We Offer

  • A working workshop: Our workshop is outfitted with all the tools and parts you’ll need, and accounts with all the major distributors so you can hit the ground rolling with a steady flow of customers.

  • Scottish Living Wage Employer: We are committed to fair compensation and are proud to be a Scottish Living Wage Employer.

  • A supportive environment: You'll have the full support of our Directors and a dedicated team of volunteers who are just as passionate about bikes as you are.

  • Amazing riding: Aberfeldy is a hidden gem for riders, offering access to some of the most incredible road and mountain biking in Scotland right from our doorstep.

  • The chance to make a difference: You'll be instrumental in building a hub for the local cycling community, helping us get more people on two wheels.

Compensation

  • £27,000 salary

  • Flexible working hours (we expect you to work 32 hours over four or five days per week, including one day at the weekend)

  • Deals on bikes, parts and accessories

  • Continued education for bike maintenance

  • This is a funded position guaranteed for 1 year, with the opportunity to continue based on performance.
