Job Description

  • Function as a productive member of our team.
  • Work primarily in the repair shop building bikes.
  • Able to do small quick tasks for customers (changing flats, making minor adjustments repairing and or replacing damaged or worn-out components).
  • Be friendly and responsive to customer’s needs.
  • Be knowledgeable of all that Balfe’s Bikes carries and offers.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and well merchandised store and repair shop.
  • Be energetic and happy to work each shift, with a good attitude.
  • Protect company assets.
  • Be punctual for all shifts with appropriate cleanliness and appearance.
  • Builders assemble one-speed children's bikes, road bikes of all grades, full suspension mountain bikes, custom builds, cargo bikes and more- all types of bicycles. The Builder's workbench is fully equipped with company provided tools.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner and adhere to all Company policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety.
  • keep up to date with market and product developments. Our mechanics are required to follow company training plans which are provided in house and on behalf of our suppliers.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Pull unpacked bikes from a staging rack in a sequence dictated by standard priorities or by short term model specific needs.
  • Understand the technical aspects of the products they fit and fix in relation to how they are compatible with the objects they are designed to fit to.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Experience as a bicycle assembler or bicycle mechanic is preferred, but we will train.
  • Excellent reliability. Proven experience showing up for work day after day, on time.
  • Good communication skills. Demonstrate that you are able to follow instructions in English, verbally and in writing. Demonstrate that you are able to provide work progress status information when asked. Ability to work closely with other Builders from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to concentrate on work all day. This job requires on occasions from 8 and up to 9.5 solid hours of attention to productivity and quality.
  • You must have the ability to stand and work at an assembly stand for up to 8 hours a day. You must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds head high.
  • Enthusiasm for bicycles and riding is preferred.
