The return of a classic – limited edition Raleigh Beano Chopper

Posted on

Get on yer bikes menaces! Raleigh has created a fantastic limited edition Beano Chopper bike to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Britain's best loved comic.

The coolest ever kid's bike has been given a fantastic Beano makeover featuring all your favourite characters: Minnie the Minx, Billy Whizz, Calamity James and, of course, Dennis the Menace and Gnasher.

The bike is covered front-to-back in classic Beano imagery and features black and red grips, seat and back pads - just how Dennis and the gang would want it.

Jayne Bakes, Raleigh product manager, said: "The opportunity arose to do something to mark the Beano's 75th anniversary and it seemed absolutely fitting to celebrate the anniversary of one British cultural icon with a special version of another.

"We think the bike is going to be a big hit with today's Beano fans, the latest generation to fall in love with the comic's gleefully mischievous humour and fantastic characters, and it's sure to spark strong feelings of nostalgia in mum's and dads too."

Raleigh graphic designer, Alistair Dixon, created the Beano Chopper's unique frame graphics and decals. "It was an amazing opportunity to turn a classic Beano comic strip into a special Chopper frame design. The bike is full of personality and I like to think it's the bike Dennis himself would have created had we let him loose in our design department!"

Tim Collins, Head of Brand, Consumer Entertainment at DC Thomson commented:

"The Beano marks its 75th anniversary at the end of July and we are absolutely thrilled that Raleigh have honoured this momentous occasion with the Beano Chopper.

"It has been a pleasure working with Raleigh on this project and I have no doubt that Beano fans of old and new will delight in the bike."

The bike will be available for purchase at a limited number of Raleigh stockists from November 2013. Find your nearest stockist here - and get menacing!
