How Shop Local Week could benefit local bakery businesses

Posted on in Creative News

The Craft Bakers Association (CBA) represents approximately 500 bakery businesses in England, Wales and Northern Ireland - from startups to established bakeries - supporting a total of 3,000 shops on the high street (alongside wholesale companies and specialised confectionery businesses).

Karen Dear, Director of Operations at the CBA, explains how Shop Local Week could benefit local bakery businesses:

"Shop Local Week is an excellent opportunity for local bakery businesses to highlight to customers all that is special and unique about shopping at their local high street bakery. Customers are increasingly looking for handmade, artisan products, made using locally grown or sourced ingredients and this is the high street baker's specialty. Local bakery businesses are also able to offer customers a friendly face and personal recommendations, all of which can provide a sense of normality in uncertain times.

Promoting the benefits of shopping at the local baker will not only generate business benefits for the shop itself, but as bakeries are often at the heart of the high street, it also has the power to help support the local economy and the wider industry. We encourage all bakeries to shout about everything they have to offer during Shop Local Week!"
