Wandsworth indies comes together to boost local business during Christmas

Posted on in Business News, Cycles News

Shop owners in Earlsfield, Wandsworth are teaming up in the run-up to keep the high street busy in the run-up to Christmas. With the cost-of-living crisis affecting independent shops, the business owners of Garrett Lane  have created a project titled "Earlsfield Village" with high-street shops sharing space with small home-grown businesses.

Seventeen high street shops are involved with the pop-ups and will host small businesses free of charge, allowing them to sell everything from homemade jewellery and sustainable clothing to fresh juices and pastries.

Justyna Rostek, who owns the Guinot Salon, decided to lead the pop-up initiative following a brainstorming session with other shop owners. She hopes the collaboration between high-street shops and home-based businesses will benefit everyone in the area by encouraging people to spend money locally, develop Earlsfield Village, stop store closures and bring extra attention to independent traders.

“The pandemic forced all of us to speak more to each other,” says Justyna. “ You’re always asking everyone, ‘how is business?’ I don’t think we did that before.”

Pop-up events are being held at various Garrett Lane locations on November 25th and December 2nd  from 3.30-7pm with the aim them returning in the new year.
