Three UK indie coffee shops named among the most popular in the world.

Posted on in Business News

A new ranking of the most popular independent coffee shops in the world has put three UK cafes in the top 10.As reported in Metro, looking at TikTok views, Instagram hashtags and Google search volume, Betway analysed 300 of the hottest spots around the world, with coffee houses in Manchester and London beating those in New York .

Following Onibus Coffee in Tokyo and Panaderia Rosetta in Mexico City, and AMA in New Delhi, Federal in Manchester took fourth place to become the UK’s favourite.

The cafe has racked up over a million TikTok views, 11,332 Instagram hashtags and 33,100 average annual searches on Google

Launched in 2014 by Portuguese former hotel manager Claudio and hospitality PR specialist Emily, who hails from Northern England, Federal now boasts four locations in the Northern Quarter, Deansgate, Oxford Road and Altrincham Market.

Serving up cocktails, brunch favourites and of course coffee, it boasts ethically sourced ingredients and work with independent roasteries and farms.

And the coffee used by the baristas here actually comes from Ozone, a caffeine institution with locations in London, New Plymouth and Auckland that was fifth on Betway’s list.

Garnering 2.6 million TikTok views and 14,000 Instagram posts under the hashtag, Ozone is beloved for its stylist interiors (very fitting given the Shoreditch and London Fields settings) and commitment to low-waste sustainable food.

As a B Corp Certified brand, Ozone is committed to working with responsible providers, so self-confessed coffee snobs can enjoy its range of speciality blends guilt-free. There’s also a subscription service available, where you can explore 52 brews from different locations via a weekly delivery to your door.

London’s Feya came tenth in the world and third in the UK, with almost two million views on TikTok and more than 100,000 Google searches per year.
