Bring your craft store to life

Ball of wool

Maximising a store's full potential isn't as daunting or expensive as some would think.

There are some easy ways to inject a bit of freshness and make the most of your space, inspiring customers through clever layouts and considered visual displays.

Here are five simple and effective ways to brighten up your store and get the creative juices flowing.

Window to the soul

Your first thing to consider should be your shop window.

The shop window display is the key and the most important part of visual merchandising, they provide the first opportunity to convince a brand-new customer to take a look inside.

A great way to catch someone's eye is to convey a story through a visually striking concept and well-thought out theme.

If you can execute these concepts effectively, with a hint of DIY, you can give customers some inspiration from the get-go and encourage footfall.

Branding, branding and more branding

Once you have pulled a customer through your doors, the next step is to convince them to stay.

Is your brand consistently represented throughout your store?

You want to make sure that your brand is visible all around the store. Incorporate the colour and its varying shades throughout the store to strengthen your brand identity.

Signing the way

Welcoming, dedicated areas with well-placed simple signs is crucial to helping customers find particular products.

Put your best on display

How can you conjure up some creativity in your product groupings? Highlight your best-sellers on an attractive display and place them next to complementing products.

The grouping of similar products can encourage impulse buying.

Visual displays can also be a useful tool to expose customers to other merchandise without being too overwhelming.

It's crucial to showcase your merchandise in different ways.

Use different shapes and sizes, add height and depth wherever possible. Using an attractive mix of baskets can also set you apart.

Give them a break

A shop should be more than just a box filled with colourful trinkets, you can introduce benches and chairs into the design of the shop for those partners of your customers who want to rest their legs while your customers spend more time shopping and taking in the creativeness that is your shop.
